Described by the ‘Times’ as ‘gifted’, and by ‘Music & Vision’ magazine as ‘spellbinding,’ Jane ford is a pianist of both passion and sensitivity. Her extensive performing career has included three television appearances in the finals of the BBC Young Musician Competition, and two radio broadcasts, including a recital for BBC Radio 3. Jane regularly gives solo recitals throughout Britain and abroad, and has performed at venues such as the Palau de la Musica (Valencia), The Palais D’Alan, (France), and in London: St John’s Smiths Square, St Martin-in-the-Fields and the Purcell Room, where she performed a World Premiere as part of the Park Lane Group ‘New Year Concert Series’. Her many Concerto performances have included Beethoven’s 1st, 2nd and 4th Concertos, Ravel’s Concerto in G, Stamford’s 2nd Concerto and Mozart’s Concertos K488, K453 (once for radio broadcast), and K466.

Jane has been awarded four second prizes at International Competitions, including the London International Music Competition, and a scholarship from the Tillett Trust. She was also finalist in the Dudley International Piano Competition, quarter-finalist in the Jose Iturbi International Competition, and one of the last 6 pianists in the Royal Over-Seas League Competition.

Jane’s teachers have included Michael Young, Hilary Coates, Heather Slade-Lipkin and Christopher Elton (Head of keyboard Studies, Royal Academy of Music). She has also worked with pianists Kenneth Hamilton, Rolf Hind and Andrew Ball (Head of Keyboard Studies, Royal Collage of Music), and greatly enjoyed working closely with the composers Piers Hellawell and Geoffrey Poole. She studied Music and Drama at Birmingham University, where she was awarded an Undergraduate Scholarship, The Roland Gregory Prize and a First Class Degree, in addition to a Performance Diploma from the Guildhall School of Music.

Jane and her husband Dan are overjoyed to have been blessed with two sons: Perran (born in February 2005) and Edric (born in January 2008).
In addition to preparing for solo recital work and a performance of Mozart’s Concerto in A K488 in Chester on the 28th of September 2008, Jane recently recorded Chopin’s Mazurkas op.24 & 30, which will soon be available for download. |
